"R" is for Readers!

Today was Rr day! We made an "I Spy Readers" magnifying glass and tip-toed around the school trying to find readers. This is what we found:
Teachers writing words on a board
Teachers reading kids stories
A WHOLE CLASS quietly reading a book to themselves
Kids reading math problems on the board
The superintendent reading on his computer
The nurse reading an important note
The secretary taking notes while talking on the phone
We discovered words ALL over the hallway!

We are having so much fun getting excited about reading!

Also, today we have a new "Shoe Tying Expert"!!! Yay!!! Great job! A Shoe Tying Expert is someone a classmate can go to in order to get help tying shoes! (It helps Mrs. Bagby too!) :) I hope by the end of the year everyone will be a Shoe Tying Expert! Keep practicing this skill at home!

Here is a picture of our FIRST Shoe Tying Expert!

Unfortunately, there is also another first in our room..... our first broken bone! Hopefully it will be our last! :) This little guy has had the best attitude and is trying so hard to write even though he broke the arm he writes with!! Did you know they make glow in the dark casts?!

Bouyant Boat Day!

Today was a very exciting day for many reasons! First, it was Bb day! We celebrated by having "Bouyant Boat Day" where the kids made their own boats out of aluminum foil, and then we counted how many bears it would take before the boats sank. The kids had SO MUCH FUN!!!! We wrote B's, stamped B's, did a bear counting page in our Math Problem Solving Notebook, and sang a B song! What a fun day!!

Another exciting thing that happened today was that we lost our first tooth here at school! Yay! That means that our first tooth gets to be added to our Tooth Bar Graph!

Here is the page that the kids filled out after they sunk their boats. The bears ranged from 1 bear up to 126 bears to sink the boat!! That's a lot of counting!! :)

Here's a few pictures of the kiddos making their boats. It was so much fun watching them do this an analyzing how they could make their boat float!

Lastly, here is a little slideshow I made of all of our fun! Check it out. Also, please feel free post a comment. :)

Our Class

I think about half of the families have seen the "This Year will be the Best" class book. If you haven't gotten it yet, don't worry, it's coming. I just wanted to share the color picture of the cover of the book. Look at all of those cuties! This class is amazingly sweet. They also make me laugh every single day! I was going to send out a newsletter today, but with working on this blog thing time kind of ran out (I think we should somehow try to lobby somewhere for more hours in the day!) :) Look for a newsletter to come home next week. Have a great weekend!

Bear Parade!

Yay, my very first post! I can't think of anything more special to start my posting adventure than the Bear Parade. It went wonderfully! The kids were so excited, and so proud, to be pulling their "float" along the parade route! Thank you to all of the parents who could make it to cheer on your children. One of my favorite things to witness is when a child sees someone they know attending something at school; they are always so happy and proud. I just love it! For those of you who couldn't make it, I know how that is, so I've created a little slideshow of pictures I took. :) When I have a lot of pictures to post I will most likely do a slideshow rather than post them individually. I hope you enjoy it!
